The names of some actors may come as a surprise to you as you have always believed they are straight due to their movie roles. We are also shocked beyond words to know some of these actors are not straight. This is one of the reasons why they are called by the name, “actors.”

1. NEIL PATRICK HARRIS, ‘HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER’


This is arguably the most popular modern case of a gay actor who acted as a straight person in Harris’s depiction of the randy Barney Stinson on the movie, “How I Met Your Mother.” In the film, Stinson played the character of an aggressive straight man who hangs out with beautiful women each episode. He is renowned for his role as the teen genius “Doogie Howser.” He is also a great singer and dancer. He has been a long-term host of the Tonys, and his charisma makes it hard for you to believe anybody else can do it better than him. He is in a long-term relationship with a fellow actor, David Burtka and has two lovely twins, Gideon Scott and Harper Grace. They were born on October 12, 2010.

2. CYNTHIA NIXON, ‘SEX AND THE CITY’


Miranda Hobbes can be literally described as a man-eater. Despite her status, she still managed to make her virtual hubby, Steve happy on the screen. She disclosed her sexual nature as a bisexual after a divorce from her husband whom she had been with over the years. She is married to a woman Christine Marinoni, with whom she has a kid now.

3. JIM PARSONS, ‘GARDEN STATE’ AND ‘THE BIG BANG THEORY’


Though there have been unconfirmed reports about Jim Parsons before the story was confirmed by the New York Times in 2012. The surprising part of the story is that he has been in a long-term relationship for the last decade. In as much as he acted in the role of a womanizer, you can imagine Sheldon Cooper acting the role of a playboy, but in the movie, Garden State, he acted as the boyfriend of Zac Braff’s character’s mom.

4. SARA GILBERT, ‘ROSEANNE’ AND ‘THE BIG BANG THEORY’


The Big Bang Theory does not have a single gay actor playing a straight role. Most people are not surprised when Sara Gilbert announced in 2010 that she is a gay. Sara broke into the limelight while playing the role of Darlene on Roseanne, a television series; she has never acted as a gay in any film. In real life, she is dating popular music act, Linda Perry and has two kids with her former partner, Allison Adler.

5. MATT BOMER, ‘WHITE COLLAR’ AND ‘MAGIC MIKE’


Matt Bomer broke the hearts of single women when he announced that he is a gay, and this news brought excitement to fellow gay men. He has three sons with his erstwhile partner, Simon Halls and renowned for his role in the movie, “Magic Mike” and the television series, “White Collar.”

6. GUILLERMO DIAZ, ‘HALF-BAKED’ AND ‘WEEDS’

He once said that attending a school in the Bronx shaped his acting skills and enabled him to act like someone entirely different from his personality.

7. JONATHAN GROFF, ‘GLEE’


While he was warming his way into the life of Rachel Berry on the TV series “Glee”. In real life, he has formed a solid partnership with Lea Michele (Rachel Berry) for many years before the days of the Broadway sensation “Spring Awakening”. During an interview with Broadway.com, Jonathan described himself as “gay and proud”.

She made it known in 2001 despite the fact that some individuals are already aware of the fact and Lily has never conceal the truth. Throughout her entire career, she has played the role of straight characters in movies such as the Admission, Big Business, and Nashville. Lily met Jane Wagner in 1971 and they have been living together as a couple since then.

Do you remember this exciting television series “Alias” with Jennifer Garner? Jennifer’s father in the series is a gay in reality. In 2012, he made the identity of his partner, Rainer Andreesen known but it seems the case is an open secret. Victor is renowned for playing straight men roles, movies such as “The First Wives Club”, “Sleepless in Seattle”, and “Legally Blonde” are some of the movies he played a major role.

As a fan of X-Men, Lord of the Rings, or any of “The Hobbit” movies, one of the last things you would expect is that Ian McKellan is not straight. He openly disclosed his sexual orientation on the episode of the talk show, “Anderson”.

If you are unaware of the fact that this man is a gay, you might need to see the funny movie, “The Bird Cage”. He interpreted the role as a gay and you can only marvel at his acting prowess. Zachary Quinto is a talented actor who has enjoyed prominence in the last few years. Despite the fact that he played the role of a straight Spock, he is a gay in real life and openly made his sexual orientation known in October, 2011 after the media went on frenzy over the tragic suicide case of Jamey Rodemeyer. He got married to his writer/director partner, Brian Hargrove in 2008 in Los Angeles.
