Over time, there have been kids who found themselves in the limelight. However, either knowingly or unknowingly, they allowed these double-edged sword called fame to hurt them, rather than propel them to greatness. We have picked the top ten of such kids and here is a little about them;

Macaulay Culkin


If you have seen the popular ‘Home Alone’ movie, then you know who Macaulay is – he played the Kelvin McAllister in the movie. His run was smooth until his almost adolescence years, when his parents started a custody battle fuelled by his rising finances and fortune. Later in 2004, Macaulay was also found to be in possession of pot and some prescription drugs.

Demi Lovato


The ‘Barney and Friends’ star was only seven years old when he landed the role. She was reportedly a cocaine addict and she took it at the slightest chance. However, she was lucky to have identified her addiction early, and hence went into rehab. There, she was treated for self-mutilation, alcohol and drugs abuse as well as bulimia.

Shia LaBeouf


With his role in the ‘Transformer’ movies, there was no doubt about his fame. Growing up was tough for Shia, with an unhappy home and a father that mentally and verbally abuse his son. He later found himself in a chain of illegal activities, including unlawful weapon possession, unlawful smoking, trespassing, and plagiarism charges among others.

Drew Barrymore


She was most popular for her roles in E.T., however, she is known for following her mother to parties. Hence, drugs wasn’t new to her from her early age, she graduated to alcohols at 11, weed at 12 and eventually cocaine at 13. Luckily for her, she was diagnosed in time for rehab. She went through it and came out stronger, to become a successful actress and producer.

Edward Furlong


His role in ‘Terminator 2: Judgment Day came early enough; he was only 14. At 15, he was reportedly romantically involved with his tutor, a 29-year-old lady, and they lived together for six years. After then they parted ways, and she accused Furlong of a series of physical abuses on her. He later got married to Rachael Bella, but that too didn’t last long as he faced accusations of domestic violence again. Things went south and he found himself back in alcohol and drugs abuse again.

Lindsay Lohan


From ‘Freaky Friday’ to ‘Mean Girls’ and ‘The Parent Trap’, Lohan is a popular name in Hollywood. Perhaps she found it hard to live with the glare that comes with publicity and tabloids. She was later charged for DUI, drugs possession and illegal driving.

Jaime Foxworth


She is the Judy Winsworth of ‘Family Matters.’ After such a successful outing, it was surprising to learn she is into drugs and alcohols, and later into adult movies, perhaps to sustain herself. She later opted for rehab, and she came out good to become a mother and a wife.

Jeremy Jackson


At 6, Jeremy kicked off his acting career. He played Hobie Buchannon in the movie, Baywatch. According to him, he got his self-esteem from drugs and alcohol. But that changed later, after he went into rehab and came out clean. Today, he is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitor, DJ, and musician.

Britney Spears

It took her three divorces and two kids before she got her act back together, and entered rehab. ‘unSweetined’ is the title of her autobiography that contained all her life struggles.
